Finland
Here you will learn everything you need to know about the drone laws in Finland.
Overview:
Keep distance to airfields and heliports
Only fly up to 150 m high
Don't fly over crowds.
The drone must be labelled with its name and contact details
There must always be visual line of sight to the drone
If you fly in a city, the drone may weigh a maximum of 3 kg
In detail:
The drone laws concerning airfields are very detailed. As soon as you want to fly near an airfield (distance < 1 km) you have to inform the tower. If the distance to the airfield is between 1 km and 3 km, it is allowed to fly as high as the highest object (e.g. a house). If you also obtain the permission of the owner of the object, you are allowed to fly a maximum of 15 m over the object. When the distance to the airfield is more than 3 km, but you are still within a control zone, you are allowed to fly up to 50 m. At heliports, you have to keep a distance of 600 m or inform the owner. Insurance is not mandatory, but the Finnish government recommends it. This app is very useful for no-fly zones. The “No Drone Zones” are also displayed on this website. The Finnish authorities also point out that common sense should always be used.
Exceptions:
If the distance to an airfield is less than 1 km, you must contact the tower. There is a guide and a list of airfields and contact details.
