Sweden

Here you will learn everything you need to know about the drone laws in Sweden.

Overview:

Keep distance to airfields and heliports

You may only fly up to 120 m vertically and 500 m horizontally

Do not fly over other people and animals

The drone must be labelled with the owner's name and phone number

There must always be visual line of sight to the drone

Drones over 7 kg need special authorization

In detail:

In Sweden, it is not necessary to have insurance for the drone as long as it weighs less than 20 kg and is not used for commercial purposes. Nevertheless, insurance is recommended. There is a ban on flying in nature reserves and near prisons and military zones. For night flights, the drone must be equipped with position lights. It is best to use this app, which shows whether you are in a zone that allows you to fly. Sweden has somewhat complicated laws regarding the publication of pictures taken with the drone. Details can be found in this official text and on this website of the national land survey of Sweden.

Exceptions:

However, according to the Swedish Embassy, the laws governing the publication of pictures apply only to Swedish citizens and not to tourists. To be on the safe side, this should be checked individually before publishing pictures (preferably directly with the Swedish national land survey). If you have a drone of more than 7 kg or want to fly outside other rules, you have to get a permit.
